Article status[edit]

@Fredddie: sorry to bother you, but does this article need anything else added to it, or can it be submitted for review? Xninetynine (talk) 19:48, 15 January 2019 (UTC)X99[reply]

"Visible abandoned sections"[edit]

Two main points at issue:

  1. There aren't any sources involved in that section. There are details in there that need citation, and raw coordinates are not citations.
  2. It's basically written as a set of bullet points, and instead, it should be prose integrated within the rest of the article. Read any good highway article, like U.S. Route 16 in Michigan, and you'll come away with a prose timeline of the changes that were made to the highway's routing. If these abandoned sections are noteworthy, then briefly note them along with the changes that produced their abandonment. Otherwise, it's coming across as trivia disconnected from the rest of the narrative of the article.

And while I'm on the subject of the history, that section needs to be completely rewritten in the past tense. Otherwise it's easy to come away thinking that the highway still follows a routing it no longer uses in a few parts that are written in the present tense. The section is written in present tense due to the fact that all of these stubs, even though they are disconnected from each other, are still used as minor roads. The list format comes from a direct copy-paste from the former "List of abandoned highways in the United States" page. Xninetynine (talk) 17:17, 18 January 2019 (UTC)X99[reply]
I'm sorry I wasn't clearer; the rest of the history section has elements written in the present tense that should be clarified into the past tense. Imzadi 1979  17:27, 18 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Everything that is still in present tense is referred to with present-day, what is now, etc. Xninetynine (talk) 02:21, 19 January 2019 (UTC)X99[reply]

Eastern terminus[edit]

US 16 is concurrent with I-190 for the Interstate's entire length, but the major intersections table doesn't show this. Morriswa (Charlotte Allison) (talk) 04:29, 27 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion and merge into parent page[edit]

Since the parent page (U.S. Route 16) already has state-article-level of detail and this article is mostly duplicate information of the main page, I propose that this article be deleted and any information here that is not included in the parent page should be moved there (the map of the historic routing, the section about SD 248, etc). We could then have this page become a redirect to the parent article. Azmjc02 (talk) 21:23, 8 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
