New York Historical Place[edit]

Is the Edson still actually a registered New York Historic Place? It would be sort of odd, considering it is no longer a part of the Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum, and is instead on its way to Wisconsin. Nakamura2828 01:26, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Error under "WestPac Deployments" heading[edit]

Dear Sirs:

I recently read a Wikipedia entry regarding a former sea command of mine - namely, USS Edson (DD-946). It goes something like this: "As part of the observances of the Bicentennial of the U. S. Constitution in 1976, the mayor and city council of West Haven CT formally designated USS Edson as the city's official ship. She made two visits to this shoreside community, and members of the crew marched in the Constitution Day Parade through the center of downtown West Haven."
This indicates that she actually sailed to the east coast during the American Bicentennial. I served aboard her from January 1976 to January 1977, so I know of which I speak with regard to this error. USS Edson NEVER left Long Beach the entire time I served aboard her; she was assigned to the SoCalOpArea for upkeep and local operations during that time period.
Please address this discrepancy at your earliest convenience; it is a matter of military history and must be corrected. In keeping with Wiki policy, I will omit any personal information unless you ask me make it available. Thank you for your attention in this most important matter.
