Comments[edit]

There's some stuff in the infobox that isn't cited anywhere: date awarded, CVE-70 isn't actually cited anywhere in the infobox or the prose, nickname of Fannie Bee isn't cited, I can't find any place where the 490 ft waterline length is cited, or the extreme width beam, or the boilers, or the screw propellors, or the complement. Just because facts are placed in the infobox doesn't mean their exempt from WP:V.

  • Waterline length, boilers, propellors, etc., are all in Chesneau. It might be a bit unclear, since the citation is strapped to the header, but I don't exactly want to spam citations all over the infobox. There's probably a more concise and clear way to go about doing this, but I'm currently unaware of how. CVE-70 is in the title of the DANFS citation, and it's pretty indisputable.

Might want to make the aircraft carried a range, the prose indicates she carried up to 30 in practice.

Lead - Can we add where Cape Fanshaw is? Not apparent from the lead.

Design and description - "and designed specifically" should probably be "and was designed specifically"

"and designed specifically to be mass-produced using prefabricated sections, in order to replace heavy early war losses" - Is this included in the citation at the end of the paragraph?

Service history - Wikilink shakedown cruise

"maintenance and availability at San Diego" - What does availability indicate in this context?

Wikilink seaplane tender

Wikilink the Avenger aircraft at first appearance.

Same with the Wildcat aircraft.

"none of which equipped to deal with" - should be "none of which were".

"no allied surface presence" - Should Allied be capitalized here?

"In the chaos of the action, Fanshaw Bay lost four Wildcats and an Avenger" - Earlier, you stated that Fanshaw Bay only had one Wildcat and eleven Avengers for this combat. Something's wrong here.

  • Her aircraft contingent that had already been dispatched for patrols were recalled to join the defense, trickling in throughout the early stages of the battle.
    • Oops, missed where it said that.

"with her survivors being left behind by the beleaguered task force" - They just left them to drown?

  • Basically. It took two days for them to get recovered, during which some of them became shark food.

Wikilink Operation Magic Carpet somewhere in the applicable section.

Wikilink mothballed in the post-war section.

References look good, are we sure all of these images were taken by government employees as part of their regular duties?

  • Yeah, I'm only using NARA images.

That's it for the GA review, placing on hold
