I was 660 crew and CNS engineer at the time of the reported flooding and do not recall that incident. It needs verification and provenance. Doug Huffman (talk) 15:47, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I know someone that was also aboard the Sand Lance for many years. Im not sure of the dates, but he told me this happened - then happened again when it was going thru the Panama Canal and this was the reason it was decomissioned
