Different things[edit]

Please do not delete this page or others like it! I didn't know what an ultra lounge was, so I checked my first quick reference, Wikipedia. Now I know, and I'm glad.

These leads to a larger issue of various of Wikipedia's policies - in this case, the "orphan" policy ... I think it needs a serious rethinking. Just because something doesn't have links doesn't make it unimportant. In defense 03:58, 5 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Another issue is that "Ultralounge" also appears to be music genre related to Space age pop, or at least music related to Lounge music. Actually Ultralounge is a trademark of Capitol records. They use it to describe their tradition lounge music releases, such as Cole Porter, etc. __meco 09:32, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

further clarification: Ultra lounge as two words does not violate Capitol Records trademark; as two words it becomes a general adjective. That said, "ultra" lounges can be thought of as 21st century Tiki Lounges and/or 21st century "Vegas" style side lounges. Modern Vegas hotels no longer have side lounges where B level acts (such as Louis Prima played at odd hours where gamblers went to rest or when otherwise not gambling. The original lounges existed because hotel owners did not want guests to leave the hotels at all; modern hotel/casinos still don't want guests to leave, and offer everything anyone could ever want. The "ultra" lounge in it's present form is what young people imagine it was like, or should have been when The Rat Pack owned Vegas, which it wasn't. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.112.170.253 (talk) 15:40, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I went ahead and created a separate page for the Ultra-Lounge series from Capitol Records, under the name "Ultra-lounge (album series)". I was frustrated with the fact that the full discography of the series (over 40 titles) doesn't seem to be listed anywhere, so I took some time to write out all of the volumes I know about, along with some other basic info. Ultra Lounge vs. Ultra-Lounge[edit]

For some reason this page tries to cover both the music venue and the Capitol Records compilation series at one time. This may be because the article was developed before the separate article on the Ultra-Lounge series was developed. For this reason, I have deleted the "see also" references and put one of the "About" italic redirect definers in the top to redirect people to the Ultra-Lounge page. Sorry that my edit is unmarked; my keyboard is not working properly and because of that I managed to upload the changes before I was finished with the explanation of the changes I performed.
