Advertising?

Does anyone else think this article reads like a gigantic advertisement? Non-encyclopedic phrases include "this bold move catapulted Under Armour" and the "gritty appeal" of the company's factory. 208.79.15.102 (talk) 12:44, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Why

Imitation

I'm curious as to whether or not there is a source for the assertion that their moisture-wicking fabric was "imitated" by Nike and Reebok. Is this documented somewhere or is it just based on chronology (e.g. they were first to market with it)? Unfortunately, this bit of information is false in that, Nike created this type of wicking material first, and therefore were copied by UA. Not the other way around as stated in the article heading. Charmtrain 13:44, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

What is this clothing made out of?

I've been having trouble finding information about how this clothing is made on the company's website. What fabrics do they use for this? Are there any other wikipedia articles that might cover the whole "moisture wicking" thing, or any other technical information about how the clothes work? -- Creidieki 21:23, 8 October 2005 (UTC)

Nike Dri-FIT Significantly Pre-Dates Under Armour

The Nike Dri-FIT fabric platform significantly pre-dates Under Armour. The Nike Pro product line was created after Under Armour.

Also, the UA model is taken from Nike products

Not made in USA anymore

I have Under Armour thats made in the USA (from a few years ago) that cost the same amount as new under armour but are not made in the USA.

Compression

Etymology of the name

I'm going to scrap the part "The name is based on a celtic word, 'ündrarmoür', hence the spelling." because it does not refer to any sources and the only other place I could find this info is from a known site for fake information. If anyone is going to provide some valid info then revert.

Rugby as a Winter Sport

I removed the statement that rugby is a winter sport. Rugby is played year round, and in north and southern hemispheres as well as the pacific islands, so when the All Blacks play the Springboks in the dead of winter then a week later play in England, they are playing in the middle of summer. Remember their Christmas is a heck of a lot hotter than the snowstorms on their 4th of July (not that is matters to them, it is just the day after the 3rd of July).-- Billy Nair 14:33, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

Article Vandilism

Someone should fix this article. As of this date, February 28, 2007, I noticed the article has been vandilized with profanity and repulsive language. Compression clothes

Wikipedia really needs an article on compression clothing in general. According to the 'net, the company Zensah makes compression clothing specifically for military and law enforcement; originally they made it for the Israeli special forces. This type doesn't use polyester (so won't fuse when burned), which means it wouldn't fall under the military bans mentioned in this article. Still, their marketing says law enforcement and military special forces (Israeli and US) use the stuff; I of course immediately ran to Wikipedia to see if the military does indeed issue any sort of compression gear, Zensah or not. Spokespeople section

I reviewed the entire spokespeople section. I removed two of the names listed in the spokespeople section that were not notable enough to have wiki articles and appear to be hoaxes anyway (one had a wiki article that was created the same day as the edit here, and then speedily deleted). I also can't find any references for Brad Richards or Mike Vrabel. If anyone could point me to some, I'd appreciate it - or else I'll remove them. I was able to find press releases or information on the main underarmour site for all the other names currently listed. --SesameballTalk 10:27, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

Purpose of compression

The purpose of compression is to help support your muscles. Spokespeople

This entire section needs references and an explanation of context. Currently it is simply a list of people with no indication of what they are for, or evidence that the names should be in the list. Spokespeople could mean many things, and it needs defining and fleshing out, that is if the list is even encyclopaedic in the first place. Canterbury Tail talk 04:24, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

I've chopped it completly. For comparison, see how Nike, Inc does it - with a link to List of Nike sponsorships - please feel free to follow their example, but thier list is also very long and without any citations. It doesn't really seem worth the bother. - Snori (talk) 09:21, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

Inappropriate Photo

I removed a inappropriate photo that clearly shows the outline of a male's genitals!! I would like other Wikipedia editors to be aware of and acknowledge this! I highly disagree. It is not censorship. The photo clearly shows a males genitals. The photo is sexually explicit and very inappropriate for younger readers and general readers also. If it is put back up again, I will remove it!

There are lots of worse places on Wikipedia for younger readers to go. I think the key here is to determine if it is pertinent to the article and encyclopedic in nature. A picture of the product is pertinent, but a different picture may be more encyclopedic in nature. 72Dino (talk) 16:41, 20 November 2012 (UTC)


As far as I'm concerned this is long-established Wikipedia consensus. See WP:PROFA: "Wikipedia editors do not remove material solely because it may be offensive, unpleasant, or unsuitable for some readers". Ball State Project

In the article, 2 of my classmates and I added some more information as a class project. First, we updated the Products section by doing a little research and finding some new product information. I won't go into detail about what we said exactly but we gave some insight on things like Under Armour's ColdGear line that just came out, and also just basic information regarding new things that they've done. (new sports jerseys, etc.) We also added a section highlighting the community service that the Under Armour corporation is involved in. We listed various programs that "UA" has started for various causes (Breast Cancer, Environmentalism, etc.) With that said, feel free to check out what we added. Please make comments, provide feedback, and give any advice you have on making our addition better. Thank you.

I am an employee of Under Armour, and I understand that changing any of the content of this page presents a conflict of interest. However, I realize that our logo is incorrect. I am authorized by the company to request a change to our logo on our Wikipedia page. Because our upload would be a trademark, I am not sure how the logo should best be uploaded to the system. I noticed that there were false Disney logos and mentions of Disney ownership of Under Armour. I made these changes already before I read my message from Jytdog (talk) 15:53, 24 February 2016, but I'll be sure to request the changes in this Talk section moving forward first. However, in the UA Wikipedia page, there was an extra Disney logo placed underneath the company quick facts box. The only way to remove it entirely was to replace it with another logo, so I added in our Under Armour logo again. If there's a way to remove it entirely, that would be my preference since there are already instances of the logo on the page. Thank you.

In USA Correct spelling is "Armor"
