Official language of the union?[edit]

I checked the statutes and I didn't find any article stating that French is the official language of the union.

In Article 17 it solely stated that "in case of dispute, it is the French text of the present Statutes that shall be deemed to be valid."

This statement, however, presupposes the use of more than one language inside the association. The Wikipedia-article should mention which languages are accepted and used by the IAU and the kind of purposes they are used for.

History[edit]

It couldn't hurt replacing the current, rather apologetic blurb about "longing for peace and understanding" with a proper history. This would entail mentioning the predecessor, the "International Association of Academies". Far from being a project to promote those lofty goals mentioned the new foundation was a French "revenge" project with the express purpose setting up a new union of academies lead by France that excluded German and Austrian academies.
