Wikiquote[edit]

Hrishikes do you know of any literature example (in English) where the author discusses the procedures (and politics) to rename/merge/scrap any of the ministries listed here. I thought Vikram Seth's A Suitable Boy (which prompted me to expand its Wikiquote article) may contain some information/dialogues but apparently it does not contain what I am after. After Modi scrapped the Planning Commission in 2014 The Telegraph ran a story where it mentioned Railway and Civil Aviation ministry as of "Jurassic era". I am interested to know why. The easiest way in my mind appears to be to add dialogues from a renowned fiction book written in English. I wonder if you would be of any help here. Solomon7968 05:31, 9 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Solomon7968 Railway ministry is basically for running a monopoly business enterprise, instead of monitoring a certain field. This is not normal government behaviour around the world, so this is "jurassic", so to say. Hrishikes (talk) 07:07, 9 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yes it is true but what about Civil Aviation which is not monopoly of the government. My understanding is railway is in the same state in India as Saudi Aramco in Saudi Arabia but I hadn't seen the latter to be referred as "jurassic"? There is no Wikiquote page on Saudi Aramco which explains why. My request for literature citations to add to Wikiquote remains as it gives some authority to the answer. Ministry of Planning[edit]

Hello I do not see a Ministry of Planning on the Government of India directory list at http://goidirectory.nic.in/union_categories.php?ct=E002. There are only 51 Ministries in the Union Government of India. Shall I edit the page to reflect this? --Indianman67 (talk) 12:01, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
