Seems like a pretty big deal that the census suspended all field operations due to the covid19 pandemic. [1] it may also be worth mentioning that the census is no longer using those handheld computers, but many employees are issued refurbished iphone8 [2] devices. Despite what this somewhat old source implies, these are not used for the count itself, they are more for administrative purposes. Beeblebrox (talk) 18:21, 24 March 2020 (UTC)

By the by, turns out my last point there was not entirely correct. Actually, pretty much wrong. In the Non-Response Follow-Up (NRFU) operation (when people actually went out and went door-to-door again)the phones were in fact the primary tool for data capture as well as employee management and payroll, using custom-made apps and a system called "the optimizer.". I could write several paragraphs on the pros and cons of this, but as always what we need is reliable sources. Beeblebrox (talk) 22:32, 31 March 2021 (UTC)
