Court Divisions[edit]

In developing a comprehensive list of U.S. District Court divisions and the counties under each division's jurisdiction, I've found that many of these "Organization of the Court" sections on Wikipedia are not actually judicial divisions but actually juror pool divisions. These are irrelevant to the structure of the court or the jurisdiction of its venues. This kind of misinformation is harmful to anyone looking for the proper venue to seek justice.

When a district court has divisions, each courthouse (or other place of holding court) exercises jurisdiction over specific counties or census areas, i.e. cases arising out of conduct in those counties or by a resident of those counties are assigned to that specific division. In an undivided judicial district, every courthouse has jurisdiction over the entirety of the district. Most of these districts have courthouses in multiple locations, but under the local rules cases are assigned at random or by turn.

In this particular case, I confirmed my suspicions with the Clerk of the District Court of Colorado, who was unaware of the content of this Wikipedia page and approved of my plan to correct it.

Since this misinformation has been propagated outside Wikipedia by bots and aggregators, I intend to make similar changes when I find other court pages with incorrect judicial divisions. I have traced the authorship of many of these faulty sections to a single Wikipedia user, ANTONI20, who has since been banned. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Danlitwin (talkcontribs) 18:09, 30 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

US Attorney and 'As of' template capitalization[edit]

Leaving a note that I have recently updated the latest US Attorney confirmed as of November 2021. I encountered one issue getting proper capitalization in the sentence - any suggestions? The article uses an 'As of' template, and while I inputted the correct date, I did not know how to get that template to properly capitalize.
