"Diversity?"[edit]

The first sentence of the article reads as thus: "The United States District Court for the District of South Dakota (in case citations, D.S.D.) is the United States District Court or the Federal district court, whose jurisdiction for issues pertaining to federal law or diversity for the state of South Dakota."

What does the term "diversity" mean in this context? I suppose its some legal term, but I don't recall every coming across it previously. KevinOKeeffe (talk) 23:35, 11 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
