removed OR and peackock terms[edit]

The brief "context" is well beyond the limits of OR. Please get a reliable source that establishes the connection. If you an experienced editor, then please know this is right. If you are new, please read our policies on original research.

Likewise, peacock terms like "soaring anthem" are to be avoided. This might be true, but it is irrelevant. This is not a page about the song. And even then it would have to be cited. Thanks! --Cerejota (talk) 04:52, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Variation[edit]

I haven't seen the movie since I was really young, but in Dumbo I think there's a variation: "Neither rain, nor snow, nor sleet not hail will stop the US mail!" or something like that. Like I said, I haven't seen the movie in years, so I could be wrong. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.26.194.190 (talk) 16:02, 27 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Popular culture[edit]

Was there another commercial on TV referencing this? I thought I used to see a commercial that showed the creed as text... it involved the USPS cycling team from the late 90s / early 2000s. Crusty wallace (talk) 02:02, 29 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The Pratchett quote is technically: 'NEITHER RAIN NOR SNOW NOR GLOM OF NIT CAN STAY THESE MESSENGERS ABOT THIER DUTY' ...because someone pinched the letters.

Most of the text here is about the motto or variations thereof appearing in popular culture. These should be in a separate section. --72.70.25.31 (talk) 22:09, 6 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

There used to be a separate section but it was removed here and then here. -17:56, 17 October 2020 (UTC)

The first few words of the creed are quoted in the Book City of Bones by Cassandra Clare. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.56.31.136 (talk) 19:41, 7 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Quoted partially in Men in Black II upon K's return to MIB headquarters. (Not in either of the deletions!) --Artoria2e5 🌉 16:35, 3 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Recent move around[edit]

@Ed Poor: I don't think replacing the lede with the a duplicate of the quote is a good idea. You should revert it. ww2censor (talk) 18:07, 2 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I tried to fix it now, so there's only one copy of the quote. But if it's not to your taste, you can go ahead and revert it all. --Uncle Ed (talk) 18:30, 2 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

"Creed"[edit]

Do any of the sources call it a creed? I can't see that they do. The USPS page calls it a motto. Marnanel (talk) 06:47, 19 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I would definitely not take the USPS's own website as a reliable source. (Not kidding in saying this.) EEng 06:57, 19 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
