Coat of arms of Alabama[edit]

Just curious. The state seals naturally hold official status, but does this also apply to the coat of arms of Alabama? And if so, does anybody know why this state has both an arms and a seal? Valentinian ^{(talk) / (contribs)} 13:12, 21 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The reason for the issuance of both a Coat of Arms AND a Seal is the fact that the Arms represent the State, while the Seal represents the Government. They are two seperate entities. Image[edit]

I changed the image back because the official emblem of the USA is the seal. The shield is a part of the seal, but has to my knowledge no official use or status on its own. In addition I think the configuration with one image on each side at the top of the article looked nicer and it is more representative of the US heraldic tradition to show first a seal then an example of private heraldry. Blazon[edit]
