Heavy improvement required[edit]

Hello all, This page requires to be rewritten to give better, fair and focused information. As of now, this page is a chaotic mix of information. Any students/previous students/stakeholders willing to collaborate? We can discuss the major points here before making the changes...

I propose the following-

0. Most important - the research section needs quite a bit of information! The most important part of the university is almost blank here.

1. Make a section called "History". Information in the first paragraph of the page, including the reference to the Six point formula, first vice chancellor etc. can be put into that section. I feel all of that is irrelevant in the title paragraphs, or at least as the only few sentences that describes the university in the title paragraphs. We could dig up other history and include it. I'm sure there are lots we can add if we talk to long time faculty... they might be able to help us with references too. University reports can be used as references.

2. Include what kinds of academic programmes the university has in the title paragraphs. Club all the rankings information to perhaps the last of the title paragraphs.

3. Revamp the structure of the rest of the article. Include notable research. Rename certain sections to generic information (eg: "Study In India programme" to "Opportunities for non-Indians" or something of the sort).

4. Add a section on campus stats - like students and teachers diversity, the physical environment etc.

Fair use rationale for Image:Uhseal.gif[edit]

Image:Uhseal.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. IISc, IIT[edit]

The given citation takes some 25 state "universities" and compares them. IITs, much less IISc, were not even included in the survey.
