FSF endorsement[edit]

The sentence "Ututo is one of the few distributions of GNU/Linux that is endorsed by the Free Software Foundation." needs a source. Mms added several sources, but I am removing them. The source should either use the word "endorse" or mention a strong support. The word is strong, and merely distributing something is not a sign endorsement. Recommending is not quite endorsing neither.--Chealer 06:25, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There is no official seal of "endorsement" from the FSF. Its my understanding that the explicit support and distribution constitutes an endorsement by the FSF. I've asked RMS for explicit support on this issue. —mako ๛ 03:32, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. This was more than a week ago; I'm removing the statement for now. Explicit distribution is not a sign of endorsement. For example, the Debian project distributes Adobe's Flash player, but definitely does not endorse it.--Chealer 22:20, 11 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Richard Stallman replied to me and said: "Ututo is one of the three GNU/Linux distros that the GNU Project endorses. (I would say it is the GNU project rather than the FSF which does the endorsing of these distros, but that's a very small hair.)" I'll add it back. —mako ๛ 13:03, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
