Sale of V-Prop rights to Hoffman propellers[edit]

This information is a bit WP:OR. I'm afraid. In a telephone call to Silence Aircraft in May 2013, Mattheus Strieker passed on this information. It's hard to get a citation for the time being until Hoffman announce their plans! Arrivisto (talk) 11:21, 1 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I checked the Hoffman website and they don't seem to have made any announcement of it yet. If you contact them you could always ask them if they plan to make an announcement, so we could use it as a ref. - Ahunt (talk) 11:30, 1 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I wrote to Hoffman yesterday! Arrivisto (talk) 12:03, 1 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Good move. There is nothing wrong with asking primary sources to post an announcement so that we can use that as a ref for Wikipedia! It is in their interest to do so. - Ahunt (talk) 13:14, 1 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

"V-Prop" should be "VProp"[edit]

"V-Prop" should be "VProp". I propose that we change the name of the page and make the appropriate chnges to the text. Arrivisto (talk) 11:58, 3 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

What does the manual call it? - Ahunt (talk) 12:32, 3 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for sending the manual - it is a bit odd in that it doesn't refer to the prop by name at all, except to call it "Silent R 1,61m V 3 and V2"! I think we need something definitive before we change the article name! - Ahunt (talk) 13:48, 3 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Silence VProp Manual[edit]

The "Silence VProp Manual" (which is cited as one of the refs) is an illustrated document which used to be a free download from Silence. After VProp production was stopped, the manual was no longer available on the internet. Fortunately, many people, including myself, have saved a copy. Arrivisto (talk) 12:09, 3 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Is it found on the Internet Archive? Also a publisher, date and page number would be helpful to add! - Ahunt (talk) 12:24, 3 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Update[edit]

I have had an email from Hoffman Propellers today, saying:

"I am sorry to say that the development of the V-Prop is still in process and the V-Prop is not available for sale. The original V-Prop was a two bladed light weight propeller for engine class like Jabiru with approx. 80-100 hp. The current Hoffmann design is a three bladed propeller for engine class like Lyc. 360. Therefore the weight of that prop will be approx. 55 lbs and I think that this is too much (for a light aircraft of 80-100 hp). The development of this V-Prop Hoffmann think about an UL-Version, but this is still in the future." Arrivisto (talk) 12:28, 3 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
