Problems[edit]

This article sits at an uneasy crossroad with the title being "VEX prefix" but having "REX prefix" redirect to it.

Ideally, there would be a decision whether it's more desirable to have

  • an all-encompassing "x86 instruction encoding"/"x86 instruction extensions"/"x86 instruction prefixes" article that also subsumes the separate "EVEX prefix" article, or
  • multiple articles for each individual x86 prefix, such that "REX prefix" would be split from the "VEX prefix" article (though I have no idea what to do with REX2 ...)

Should mention that this only works in 64 bit mode, which is why they can get away with replacing the les and the lds instructions:
