Sorry for the delay. I've been pre-occupied with other issues; however, there's not a lot that I could add. Just one comment:

• I'm having a look at Bronk 2014, and more specifically reference no. 65. The reference says that the weapons were available to the RAF, so I'm a bit confused as to why the proceeding sentence does not mention that, or is unclear about it. Perhaps, "Due to operational restrictions, the American weapons were not effectively available for the RAF to use as part of the UK's national nuclear deterrent; only British-owned weapons could be used for that purpose." --Sp33dyphil (talk) 00:25, 20 July 2018 (UTC)

  Re-worded to: "Since they were in American custody, they were not available for the RAF to use as part of the UK's independent national nuclear deterrent; only British-owned weapons could be used for that purpose." I'm not sure we're on the same page. The point is that that the UK could not start a nuclear war without American permission with Project E weapons; only British nuclear weapons could be used for that purpose. • OK, my initial understanding was that if the bombs were used for deterrent, the RAF ipso facto could not start an offensive nuclear war anyway (and so from what you wrote, I wrongly thought the bombs were used for tactical purposes??).
