Article name[edit]

This article was recently moved to a new name that seems to combine its long-standing title with an alternate name. Not sure what is the correct article title. The bolded name does not match the current article title. The editor who did the move tried to add the alt name into the infobox as nickname=, but that field is not supported by the infobox. Nom form says "historic name" is Pleasant Hill Plantation and common name is Issac Van Lear house. Doncram, your thoughts? MB 00:37, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, i restored the NRHP listing name "Pleasant Hill Plantation" to the NRHP infobox, because that is what the NRHP infobox must display, in order for the system of NRHP pages to properly convey to readers which page is covering what listing. Conceivably, the article could be at a different common name. But here I do not see any evidence that "Van Leer Pleasant Hill Plantation" is a name used in any sources, so I think a move back to the original name is warranted. I suppose a formal wp:RM process should be undertaken to inform/educate all parties, right? --Doncram (talk) 04:30, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I think the move can/should be reverted per WP:BRD. It would then be up to the OP to start a WP:RM#CM if they still wanted to make a change to the title (as a potentially controversial move). MB 14:35, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Searching for "Van Leer Place" in Google yields mainly this about a development in New Jersey. User:Draper051, why do you think the name applies to this building in Pennsylvania? --Doncram (talk) 17:20, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I found several historical records referring to the place as "Van Leer Place" or "Also know as Van Leer Place" and in rare mentions "Van Leer's Pleasant Hill Plantation House." ^[1] ^[2] I assumed this would mean it's the common name, however it appears it should be "Van Leer Place" or be listed in an "also known as" field. When searching "Pleasant Hill Plantation" or "Pleasant Hill Plantation PA" Google produces articles with "Also known as Van Leer Place." When searching "Van Leer Place," Google does populate a recently constructed multi-family building with the same name. Draper051 (talk) 18:23, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
