This article appears heavily biased toward the University of Nottingham in the way it is written. While good results for the University of Nottingham are congradulated, good results for Nottingham Trent University appear to be seriously downplayed.
I have made an attempt to clean up the article by refering to each university as either Nottingham or Trent rather than the previous format of University or Trent, which is misleading considering that they are both universities. Furthermore, where possible I have included the full name of Nottingham Trent University as opposed to just 'Trent' which is how it was previously stated.
The article is helpful but uses many informal words and lacks professionalism. It still needs alot of work to ensure that it is appropriately fair and balanced. I have added a link to the main Nottingham Trent University page to encourage further useage.
- I disagree with the accusations of bias and am surprised at them considering I went to Trent! The University of Nottingham's short form was given as 'University' because those in Nottingham differentiate between the two universities by calling them 'Trent' and 'Uni'. 'Nottingham' seems like an entirely unsatisfactory alternative to come to; how can you say 'University' is unacceptable because both are institutions include the 'University' in their name and then change it to 'Nottingham' and ignore that both have that in their name?! Also, do you have a source for the fact that only football was played in 2001 (as I see you've deleted the 'incomplete' marker)? Omg † osh 09:48, 12 August 2011 (UTC)
The word 'University' could technically refer to either of the universities whereas, Nottingham specifically refers to The University of Nottingham wheresas 'Trent' specifically refers to Nottingham Trent University. If you feel this is still misleading, then alternatively they could be refered to using their acronyms UoN and NTU. The original University and Trent reference is not acceptable due to its informality. The reason I made allegations of bias is due to the fact that the original script constantly refered to NTU as 'Trent' while at the same time using the the full name of University of Nottingham (something which I have corrected). Furthermore, I feel in the way it is written victories for NTU are downplayed in contrast to victories for NoU. If you read sections where a victory was recored for NTU it is often just stated as NTU won..... whereas victories for UoN are beefed up with phrases such as beat, thrashed or victorious. One important part which I edited was at the end of the article where NTU had claimed victory over UoN; it was written as 'Trent manged to do' which suggests that they somehow didn't deserve it. If you read through the whole article slowly you will see what I mean. It is important for wikipedia articles to remain fairly balanced and objective and for them to refrain from subjective comments.
