87.6% of statistics are made up on the spot.[edit]

Surveys have shown that 27% of farmers reported seeing damage to the vents of their hens [3] and 36.9% of farmers reported vent pecking had occurred in their previous flock.[2]

And 98% of statistics make little to no sense when evaluated. Bit of a furphy there, I might say! ;) Also lol @ calling a cloaca a 'vent.' I think vagoozela sounds better. Let's use that instead, hey? Vent. Hah! :P 124.190.207.57 (talk) 21:37, 5 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It took me about 90seconds to find this "The body cavity into which the intestinal, urinary, and genital canals empty in birds, reptiles, amphibians, most fish, and monotremes. The cloaca has an opening for expelling its contents from the body, and in females it serves as the depository for sperm. Also called vent."[1][my emphasis] Please spend some time researching before you criticise other editors. DrChrissy (talk) 22:17, 5 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Clarity[edit]

It would be helpful to state explicitly in the opening paragraph whether this behavior refers to a hen pecking itself or to one hen pecking another (or both). Jess_Riedel (talk) 17:42, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
