Asperger's[edit]

Oughtn't it be mentioned that he has Asperger's syndrome?

The article states, "In February 2005 Smith spoke out publicly about his Asperger's syndrome, which is part of the autistic spectrum[1]." Q0 07:22, 18 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Details on Nobel prize[edit]

This article really needs lots of polishing up. I would be glad if we could mention details of his nobel price award and his publications.80.255.47.202 12:24, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A decent collection of his collected works are available as a combined volume. This would include his first paper studying market behavior in the laboratory, as one of the founders of experimental economics, in 1962. An interesting fact is that paper was responding to another laboratory attempt, by Chamberlin 1948(?), who had earlier attempted to show that markets are inefficient. Vernon showed that, properly structured, markets were amazingly effcient in environments where the supposed prerequisites of complete information did not exist. Anyway Vernon Smith's collected papers volume are available as ISBN-10: 052102465X http://www.amazon.com/Papers-Experimental-Economics-Vernon-Smith/dp/052102465X/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1334143943&sr=8-9 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.174.166.70 (talk) 11:36, 11 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Also, it is a Nobel prize, not a Nobel price. I fixed the header.

WikiProject class rating[edit]

Libertarianism[edit]

Why is this article linked to this? At best libertarianism would be a sideshow of his political views unconected with his work which shows the importance of institutions in the economy. If i dont recive a response i will remove the link. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 145.116.11.105 (talk) 21:18, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You might hestitate a bit to unlink Libertarianism from Austrian Economics. The former is poltical belief, but the latter provides a theoretical basis for its validity.

Trading Institutions[edit]

Is it redundant for the article to read that Vernon Smith is known for the combinatorial auction AND experimental economics? The combinatorial auction appears to be just one of several trading institutions that Vernon Smith and his colleagues created and/or tested in an experimental context, the first being the continuous double auction, of which no mention is made. Perhaps the article should have a section on the trading institutions designed by Smith and his colleagues. UA6 (talk) 06:55, 7 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What type of libertarian is he?[edit]

Anarcho-capitalist? Minarchist? Some other kind? Aldrich Hanssen (talk) 16:50, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Austrian or New Classical?[edit]

The article states that he is New Classical, but all the talk implies that he is Austrian. Which is it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.250.0.1 (talk) 08:34, 21 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Austrian[edit]

"Vernon Smith, who won the Nobel prize in 2002 for his work in founding experimental economics, considers much of his research as a demonstration of some key Austrian ideas (Smith 1999, 2005)".
