"Unos"[edit]

The current version of the article states this about the song's lyrics:

At the beginning of the song, U2 lead singer Bono counts off in Spanish uno, dos, tres, catorce!. In English, this translates to "one, two, three, fourteen!"

I'm listening to the song right now, and I am very confident that I hear Bono saying "unos". This is an important difference, as uno is the cardinal number "one", but unos is an article meaning "some". I can understand this mistake; saying "unos, dos, tres" sounds right even to me, perhaps by influence of the letter S at the ends of dos and tres.

I think that the article should be changed to reflect this — that is, unless someone can find some statement from the band themselves, or whoever wrote the song, which conclusively states that the word is "uno" (artistic license and all), in which case I feel it should at least be mentioned that some hear "unos".

I'll make this change myself if I don't receive a response to this within a day or so. -- Äþelwulf See my contributions. 12:13, 8 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You're absolutely right, Äþelwulf - but someone seems to be determined to be wrong. Every time I edit it someone reverts it within a day. Would that someone stop being an idiot and realize that maybe some people know more Spanish than they do?

I've directly responded to this issue on your talk page, Gradster, although there is no need to be insulting. I hope that this clears up the issue. MelicansMatkin 02:14, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lo siento - no pun intended - I was a bit tired that day, and thanks.

¿Dónde está?[edit]

Actually, jgm, it's not entirely clear. The chorus could be in disbelief that the lead is in a place called Vertigo and is asking "Where is he?" in doubt.

Of course, "¿Dónde está?" can be used (short for "¿Dónde está usted?") to mean Where are you?, if the person speaking is addressing someone formally. Besides, there might be a bit of "tourist-effect" in the Spanish (what Bono called "some alcohol involved" in the uno, dos, tres, catorce intro): in other words, the kind of mistakes someone might make if Spanish isn't their first language.

The translation is "Where is it?" Bono is talking about the place. Miss Bono [hello, hello!] 19:42, 7 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Nine Inch Nails/Trent Reznor remix[edit]

Didn't NIN do a remix of the song that was officially released? Which format was it. I thought it was the DVD. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.232.51.25 (talk) 04:52, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't recall hearing about that... Could you be thinking of the Radanka Remix? MelicansMatkin (talk) 04:56, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
