Date of birth[edit]

I'm guessing whoever added the date of birth copied it from IMDB? Screenonline gives 25/Sep/1897. However, his death registry index entry from 1979 gives his date of birth as 05/Sep/1896. This tallies with the birth of Horace Victor Saville, registered in Q3 1896 Coventry, Warwickshire (20 miles east of Birmingham). If IMDB is correct with his birth name of "Victor Salberg", then he is really Victor Myer Salberg (son of Russian/Polish Gabriel Salberg and his wife Rebecca) whose birth was registered Q4 1897 Kings Norton, Worcestershire. And, just to confuse things further, he frequently gave his DoB as 05/Sep/1897 on passenger lists! After a bit more hunting through the genealogy archives, he definitely was Victor Myer Salberg and spent his childhood living in Kings Norton. His father Gabriel (1863-1921) gave his occupation as Art China Merchant (1901 Census) and China Dealer (1911 Census), and he married Rebecca in 1892.
