This article is horribly flawed. I see from the history that it started out as a list of words ending in -scope, and then somebody renamed it to Viewing instrument, perhaps to avoid WP:NOTDICT. Not all of the items listed were "viewing instruments", however, and obvious viewing instruments that didn't end in -scope were excluded. I would have been inclined to fix it by moving it to a title like "List of -scopes", but I see that this option was discussed in AFD and the decision was to keep the article, with its current title.
