Joke?[edit]

lol, is this a joke? They can't be serious about this. How long do they think this console is going to last? I bet it'll flop. — EliasAlucard (Discussion · contribs) 08:37, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No, it's not a joke. ViperSnake151 14:03, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It was a rhetorical question... — EliasAlucard (Discussion · contribs) 14:19, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The name should be changed, it's the Chintendo Vii. 142.162.202.241 (talk) 20:42, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Close, the real name of the company who made this (not a joke) is Mantendo. -- penubag  11:09, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
What is your source for this Mantendo?JIMfoamy1 (talk) 16:34, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I was watching the Japanese news station on the television. I'm too lazy to go find an internet site though. -- penubag  (talk) 07:24, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mantendo is a fictional video game company in cartoons, or at least that is all I can find out about the supposed company.Asher196 (talk) 14:55, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

vii's are really gay. thats a great way to copy a good idea —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thatboytb (talkcontribs) 21:47, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Free Craps[edit]

Is there any proof that the Free Craps game was actually included in the finished Vii? None of the actual reviews mention it, and the official site only mentions the other 11 games. Maisie777 (talk) 23:04, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As with nearly all Chinese gaming systems, there are many variations, so there might be versions with and without it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.150.119.197 (talk) 20:51, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
LetVGO's site states this console has the 12 games, though "Craps" is a misnomer. The dice game is not craps per se; the game play is simply bet on 1-6 and you win if the die turns up that number. Jappalang (talk) 23:16, 15 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In a video on youtube, you can see on the box "Free Craps" type in "Chintendo Sport Vii Console - Unboxing" TheObscureGamer (talk) 14:01, 27 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Full name[edit]

The full name is the "Vii 威力棒" (the Chinese characters pronounced as wei1 li4 bang4 in Pinyin; meaning "Power stick"), as seen by the logo on its front (clearer pictures, go here and the LetVGOnewsite here. Either the lead should mention it (Vii Power Stick/Powerstick), or the namespace of the article changed to reflect it. Jappalang (talk) 23:21, 15 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Two different models?[edit]

Rather than a successor product, the product shown on Kensington's website here (called Vii 2 by the sources) could simply be the same model but with aesthetic improvements. The company announced its release as July 2007, and shows 11 games on the machine (the 12 games on the model depicted on the Wiki-page minus the dice game). Note the two gonintendo sources are talking about this model, rather than the pictured model on the Wiki-article. From the manual itself, the product never called itself Vii 2. It seems this Vii 2 label is given by Engaget and gonintendo themselves without a primary source. Jappalang (talk) 23:28, 15 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, there doesn't seem to be any official source for the name "Vii 2" and the hardware in both versions seems identical except for the "Free craps" game and a PAL/NTSC switch (was there one on the original version? Nobody seems to know). Maybe the second version is more export friendly - possible addition of PAL switch, case made to look less like a Wii in an attempt to avoid lawsuits? I'm just spitballing here. Maisie777 (talk) 13:51, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Seventh generation?[edit]

Were the editors serious? This, although it was chronologically made in the seventh generation era, does not even feature 3D graphics! From the videos, it is obvious that it uses 2D that is made to look like 3D. Saying that this is a seventh gen console is like saying that a NES clone made in 2008 is a seventh gen console. 121.130.76.122 (talk) 11:37, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Take a look at the archives for Talk:History of video game consoles (seventh generation). The general consensus is that generations are based on release date and period than graphics. Misterkillboy (talk) 15:37, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Me too...[edit]

Me too thinks that this is a joke... ummm is this for realz? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.165.59.39 (talk) 00:42, 11 March 2008 (UTC) This article is not a joke. Look it up, if you like.206.248.167.220 (talk) 12:06, 7 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Vii 2[edit]

Since the Vii 2 does not need it's own separate article, I have undone the removal of Vii 2. --172.206.137.45 (talk) 20:31, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Origins of the thing / development work done on it?[edit]

This is obviously quite a step up from the previous "NES on a chip" nintenclones, in terms of graphics, sound, controller utility etc... it seems to largely mimic the Gameboy Advance integrated with the bodge-it-in TV-adaptor produced and sold for that machine - but having put this to a reviewer (Dr Ashen), the reply is that it apparently outputs at a different (higher) resolution that's not immediately apparent in the youtube videos (which only record at roughly GBA rez anyway), has somewhat flickery sprites, and the add-in cartridge is distinctly different (smaller, for one thing) from actual GBA carts.

(though I still think it would be interesting to kludge up a slot converter for it and see if it worked ... part of my theory was that the viimote had a simplistic 8-way digital motion sensor like in some GBA cartridges, and the built-in games were designed to take advantage of that, but inserting an expansion cartridge somehow locked out that bit of the software which is why you had to use the controller in a normal joypad style, with a number of buttons conveniently the same as the GBA)

So, is this identifiably a clone of some other console (Genesis, PC Engine, NeoGeo etc? Or even Amiga/low end PC?), with ports or straight rebrands of existing games for said consoles - or have they actually put in all the necessary work to spec, design, build, bug test, produce, and make playable software for an entirely novel early-90s spec-level console-on-a-chip?

(To go back to the controller for a moment - it also features a 9-pin Atari-style joystick port, as was cloned on many other machines, some of them with enough buttons to satisfy the Viimote requirement... e.g. the Genesis, when used with a 6-button pad)

I find the whole thing inexplicably fascinating, and if it wasn't for the apparently massive import cost, I'd have one. Do like a bit of semi-retro gaming. 82.46.180.56 (talk) 15:42, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Merge/redirect proposal[edit]

I propose that Plumber (game) be either merged or outright redirected to Vii. Article demonstrates a lack of notability as well as a lack of context. The verifiable content could fit better in the Vii article as one or two concise statements. Please discuss below and indicate whether you support a merge, support a redirect, or otherwise oppose any merge or redirect. MuZemike 17:29, 28 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I redirected all Vii and VG Pocket Caplet games. There were still no references or any sign of notability. --Mika1h (talk) 21:47, 29 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

nintendo[edit]

did nintendo ever hear about this? it's not on the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.107.42.62 (talk) 14:14, 22 July 2009 (UTC) Nintendo does know about this.DellTG5 (talk) 17:40, 17 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Possibilities -> Release date, games, a famiclone/clone?[edit]

I have 3 main issues dealing with this console's info that i need help with, if possible.

1. The release date. According to the chinese and japanese wikipedia of the Vii console, they say it was released on December of 2007, with no references. However, Kensington's site states that the Vii was "officially on sale" in July of 2007. The question is, what is the true release date of this mysterious console? I cannot verify the December 2007 date, but I can find many reviews of this console in chinese and japanese around December 2007.

2. JungleTac/Kensington also released a number of handheld consoles, one in particular is the Onestation MD-Max, which takes in cartridges. The cartridges this handheld takes is almost exactly alike to the Vii's cartridges, both taking cartridges with 25 pins[1][2]. Question is, can the Vii play MD cartridges and MD-Max play Vii cartridges? If so, then there are probably more games out there are compatible for the Vii than just VC-1 to 3. Also, according to one source, there also exist a VC-4. I need help verifying these things.

3. Is this a clone console, or an actual home video game console? Alot of people say that the JungleTac/Kensington's FC3000 and other handhelds are famiclones[3], but I'm a bit confused on the reason why since their cartridges size is tiny and they can't fit in a SNES, Famicom, or GBA slot to be played.

Wireless 60/Wireless Air 60 Reviews[edit]

Shane Luis of Rerez published two reviews, one in 2013 and one in 2015, of the Wireless 60 and Wireless Air 60. Should these be cited somewhere? 24.147.61.172 (talk) 00:55, 3 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
