Shell involvement in Nigerian politics

I noted today that there is a statement on the page that Cable has been criticised due to a former employer having played a role in "a turbulent era of Nigerian politics". Clicking through to the sources, they actually relate to Cable's personal knowledge of, and subsequent involvement in the aftermath of, nine specific killings - this is quite clearly worthy of mention, and the wording used quite flagrantly downplays the content of the sources. I rephrased the wording to reflect what the sources actually say, but see that somebody has reverted the edit, claiming that it "seems undue". I do not consider it to be "undue" to use wording that actually reflects the content of the sources, in relation to criticisms that quite evidently warrant inclusion; can anybody provide a reason why it is undue?2A00:23C4:4F07:1000:8524:E92F:89DF:B3D7 (talk) 08:06, 22 February 2018 (UTC)

  • Hi, your edit summary Sources criticise Cable's personal involvement in nine specific killings, not merely his association to a company connected to a "turbulent era" of politics! This is not a fan site.) (Tag: possible BLP issue or vandalism) - diff - there is a lot of opinion in those links and the addition you wanted to add was accusing him of involvement in killings, I think it was quite wp:undue for a wp:blp, lets wait and see other users comments here, thanks Govindaharihari (talk) 08:12, 22 February 2018 (UTC)

To be 100% clear, my edit noted that: "Critics note that Cable must have been aware of these killings, and highlight his personal involvement in an apparent effort to enhance the profitability of the affair." This is literally what the sources say, no more and no less; I was not making any accusation whatsoever, but amending the article to properly reflect the content of its sources, which (as I understand) is the very essence of NPOV. I welcome further comments though.2A00:23C4:4F07:1000:8524:E92F:89DF:B3D7 (talk) 08:35, 22 February 2018 (UTC)

Resigning as leader

It was mentioned on the radio this morning (Friday 7 September) that Vince Cable has announced he will be standing down as Liberal Democrats leader but not immediately - he will not be standing down until next year. This means this article will need to be watched carefully to make sure it is properly updated. Vorbee (talk) 07:52, 7 September 2018 (UTC)

A bit more here. Ghmyrtle (talk) 08:56, 7 September 2018 (UTC)

Thank you. I think he has now said that the next leader of the Liberal Democrats would not need to be a sitting M.P.. Vorbee (talk) 12:05, 7 September 2018 (UTC)
