Bad Writing[edit]

"Coleman had many children, one of which died of diphtheria in 1915. His name was Cyril. On the day of the explosion, two of his children were on their way to "St. Joseph's Catholic School." The tragic death of their child was very distressing for he and his wife Frances, but the year afterwards they and Frances had a child named Eileen."

This reads like this: Two of dead child Cyril's children were on their way to St. Joseph's Catholic School on the day of the explosion. The tragic death of the child of these two children was very distressing for some other grammatically incorrect man and his wife Frances. But the next year, the two children and Frances had a child named Eileen. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.26.95.207 (talk) 02:49, 17 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Numerous sources identify him as a dispatcher. Oddly enough, the Canadian Railway Hall of Fame has two entries which disagree. I think we need a better source than a "history minute" here. --Dhartung | Talk 00:16, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No bravery award ?[edit]

Today this man would be awarded the highest possible civilian bravery decoration - George Cross. No mention in the article of any award. Was it not customary in those days to award civilian bravery decorations ? Imagine - returning to his post and calmly tapping out warning messages while he expects to be killed. I would have thought he qualified for the Albert Medal. Rcbutcher (talk) 04:15, 5 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Error in date of birth[edit]

I'm reading that Patrick Vincent Coleman was born in 1874, rather than the 1872 indicated on this page. This date is on birth record, and the 1881 Census. The 1872 date seems to come from his death record, which shows an estimated age, but not a year of birth. That estimated age may not have been provided by a member of his immediate family, as his wife was seriously injured, and his father deceased. I wonder if it might be more accurate to show the date on his birth record.
