Family details?[edit]

According to User:Wendyjendrysik, Corbin was 32 when she died, not 31 (studios have been known to falsify birthdates). Jendrysik (who states that Corbin was her grandmother) also says that "she died at The Winfield Sanitarium for TB in Winfield, Illinois".

Date of Birth Correction[edit]

Her Findagrave profile (in the External Links section) gives her birth year as 1911, but the grave in the photo (presumably the same person) says 1914. Assuming a glaring error on a celebrity's stone would have been corrected since 1942, and considering her being billed as BABY Virginia in 1916 (assuming reference #1 is accurate), I have changed the birth year and age at death accordingly. But that would mean that she married at 14/15. And on this movie still she doesn't look like 12. Finally she is mentioned in Photoplay of January 1928 as being 17, which means that she was born in 1910.Cst17 (talk) 12:08, 10 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It wasn't uncommon for women to marry young in those days. Considering her fame and fortune, it seems entirely plausible she had many suitors looking at her as an investment, and this guy wanted a slice of her career before she got "old" and unmarketable. It may explain the divorce in '37. Or it may be that the marriage info here is incorrect (the reference is rather vague).

Hard to say how old she looks in that picture, heavily clothed and painted. In my opinion, twelve is very possible.

The Photoplay link doesn't work on my browser, but I trust it says what you claim. I am not familiar with the magazine, but its Wiki article defines and describes it as a "fan magazine". These types of promotional celebrity magazines strike me as (and many have proven to be) highly dubious sources of information. I tend to trust a tombstone (presumably approved by a family member) over an 84 year-old 'tabloid' (presumably approved by a public relations manager).
