Why it is Called Newcastle[edit]

Newcastle Disease was first reported in 1926 in the East Indies and then in 1927 at Newcastle-on-Tyne, England, for which it is named.

Newcastle Disease was first reported in 1926 by Doyle in Newcastle upon Tyne other strains were reported at this time. Please read "Newcastle Disease By Dennis J. Alexander"

It was reported in Java in 1927/8 in which some 5,000,000 fowl died or were killed. It subsequently appeared in Melbourne Australia in in 1929 and again 1932 when it was reported in The Argus.
