it says that Kiribati abolished visas in 2019 according to the history section also in article "visa policy of Kiribati" but in the list it says VISA REQUIRED

Schengen Visa[edit]

I'm opening this discussion because Twofortnights undid a outdated template I added to this article. Recently United Arab Emirates has been granted a visa free entry to all the Schengen region, moving up the passport free visa countries to 72 and the passport power rank to 47 according to passportindex.org. Can you provide a source for your claim that the "United Arab Emirates has been granted a visa free entry to all the Schengen region"? Because according to all info I can find the UAE citizens will become exempt in the future, only after a proposed mutual visa waiver is signed and ratified. Until then, as you can see on the official EU website here, the visa is required for UAE citizens.--Twofortnights (talk) 15:04, 24 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

"ability for bearers of Emirati passports to travel without obtaining visas in advance"[edit]

This recent edit by User:Twofortnights inserted a "clarification needed" template in this phrase and this (superfluous?) insertion puzzled me.

The phrase currently appears in our article in the following context:

  • "As of May 2018, Emirati citizens had visa-free or visa on arrival access to 154 countries and territories... This ability[clarification needed] for bearers of Emirati passports to travel without obtaining visas in advance, means that the UAE passport ranks as the best for nationals from the 'Arab world'."

To me, it is clear that the "ability" refers to the ability of travelling without the necessity of obtaining visas in advance if one is in possession of a valid Emirati passport.

Is there anyone else that thinks this point needs further clarification and, if so, do they have any suggestions for re-wording it to make it even clearer that there is no other passport that someone from the Arab World could use that has a greater ability to facilitate travel without obtaining a visa in advance? --BushelCandle (talk) 11:15, 12 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I propose to reword it that such ranking is what makes the UAE passport the best in Arab world. Saying "This ability for bearers of Emirati passports to travel without obtaining visas in advance" is ambiguous, it suggests Emirati passport holders do not need visas in advance in general, and then it connects it to the ranking among the Arabic world. What the editor is trying to say is that the ranking of the UAE passport as 23rd in terms of travel freedom in the world also places it above passports of other Arab countries which rank lower. So I don't have anything against including it in the article, but I am just suggesting a slight rewording in order to clarify what we are referring to.
Also while we are at it, please fix the spaces between references [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] [11]. Thanks.--Twofortnights (talk) 11:54, 12 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
What about using this modified and shorter wording, then:
As of May 2018, Emirati citizens had visa-free or visa on arrival access to 154 countries and territories, ranking the Emirati passport 23rd in terms of travel freedom (tied with the Uruguay passport) according to the Henley Passport Index.[1]All other passports from the 'Arab world' had an inferior ranking in this respect as of 12 June 2018.[2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11]

Thanks for making the compromise edit. As for the EVW I understand what you mean in general, but the problem is that EVW is the name of the program so we shouldn't use it like that in plural, it should say something like the UK Electronic Visa Waiver program for UAE citizens commenced on 1 January 2014.--Twofortnights (talk) 16:36, 12 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Henley & Partners Passport Index[edit]

If we can believe them, they are continually updating their index - not just once or twice a year, User:Norvikk. However, I have noticed that they do not update their public webpage as often as the documents available to their (paying) clients.
