Eircell Ready to go was launched in October 1997 and was certainly not the first prepaid mobile service in the World. I believe that honour goes to TMN in Portugal.

How do I know this? I was leader of the Service Design Team for Eircell Ready to Go and had not even joined Eircell in 1995! Dublinblue 12:51, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If this is true then why does Eircell (now Vodafone) state that they were the 1st prepay service in the world, and have it backed up by International Telecommunications Union? Surely TMN Portugal would be disputing this?

It's simple - Eircell launched its prepaid service in 1997. I don't think anyone disputes that! The first prepaid mobile services were around long before that. Can you please give a reference for your statements about the ITU and about Vodafone Ireland - it would be interesting if either of these were the source of the error.Dublinblue 16:52, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I will see if i can find reference to this and if so, I will give feedback. --  RÓNÁN   "Caint / Talk"  18:29, 14 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
