Engines for the F/G88 and F/G89[edit]

The Volvo engines used on the F/G88 was the TD100 9.6 liter turbocharged diesel. The F/G89 used the larger TD120 12-liter turbocharged diesel.

The G88[edit]

The G88, introduced in 1970, used a set-forward front axle that moved the axle further up front, which was to meet legislation calling for maximum length between the first and the last axle of a vehicle combination. [1]

Successors[edit]

The F/G88 and F/G89 were replaced in 1977 by the very successful F10 and F12 respectively.
