Destubbing[edit]

Looking at how much the page has grown, debatably being a more in-depth history than even the "official" history from WNYT's website, is it really necessary to have this page listed as a stub? I'm going to de-stub unless someone gives me reason to not do so. Thanks. Scrabbleship 23:41, 24 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unnecessary Disambiguation[edit]

Making a disambiguation page in order to accommodate an internet radio station seems to be quite a waste of time and interest. A note on the WNYT page for the fake WNYT will more than suffice rather than making things difficult for no reason since I don't see the WTOP at SUNY Oswego (a campus TV station) affecting the article on WTOP or the micropower WMAR at Marist College affecting the article on WMAR-TV. This move was frivolous and should be undone ASAP. Scrabbleship 04:52, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I completely agree and don't see why after a year nothing has been done about it?! WNYT (radio) still doesnt exist as an article anyways, its a redlink! I guess if no one else wants to do it I'll find out how to do it myself but I'd rather be lazy and hope someone listens to my complaints and the one before. I just had this dab page speedied yesterday, following the deletion of WNYT (internet radio). I've requested another speedy deletion of this page, to move the TV station back here. Mlaffs (talk) 05:00, 22 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use criteria[edit]

Fair use rationale for Image:Wnyt anchors.JPG[edit]

Image:Wnyt anchors.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Rationale for deletion of disambiguation page[edit]

Per the WP:Disambig page, "If only a primary topic and one other topic require disambiguation, then disambiguation links are sufficient, and a disambiguation page is unnecessary." The television station has had "WNYT" as it's primary identification since 1981. The internet radio station is new and a hat note is sufficient and requires no more steps than would a disambiguation page for people seeking the internet radio station. Adding unreferenced entries of former employees to lists containing BLP material[edit]

Hello, Please do not add unreferenced names as entries to the list of former employees in the article. Not including this type of material in articles abides by current consensus and is strongly discouraged in our policies and guidelines. The rationales are as follows:

  1. WP:NOT tells us, Wikipedia is "not an indiscriminate collection of information." As that section describes, just because something is true, doesn't necessarily mean the info belongs in Wikipedia.
  2. As per WP:V, we cannot include information in Wikipedia that is not verifiable and sourced.
  3. WP:NLIST tells us that lists included within articles (including people's names) are subject to the same need for references as any other information in the article.
  4. Per WP:BLP, we have to be especially careful about including un-sourced info about living persons.

If you look at articles about companies in general, you will not find mention of previous employees, except in those cases where the employee was particularly notable. Even then, the information is not presented just as a list of names, but is incorporated into the text itself (for example, when a company's article talks about the policies a previous CEO had, or when they mention the discovery/invention of a former engineer/researcher). thanks Deconstructhis (talk) 21:45, 19 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Translators - Accuracy of WNYT licensed vs WNYA licensed[edit]

According to WNYA's latest license application renewal at https://enterpriseefiling.fcc.gov/dataentry/api/download/draftcopy/25076ff3838b53ac0183a46760f51f70, W28DA-D and W32FW-D are licensed to WNYA and not WNYT, only W21CP-D is shown on WNYT's renewal application at https://enterpriseefiling.fcc.gov/dataentry/api/download/draftcopy/25076ff3848dd5470184cf0e05592b41. We do not live within signal range of these translators to verify, but it would seem Wikipedia is showing outdated information based on the renewal applications. 97.132.124.203 (talk) 02:11, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
