History[edit]

WOL has an important early history which is completely ignored by this article. It was one of the first four surviving radio stations in D.C. (the others being WRC, WJSV, and WMAL, I believe in that order). A study of early issues of Broadcasting magazine would definitely benefit this article. (See, for example, the October 13, 1941, issue, which contains a paragraph on Russ Hodges' move from Charlotte to WOL, where he was already doing Redskins play-by-play. 121a0012 (talk) 00:33, 13 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

WOL Callsign.[edit]

I've found in other research projects, timetables for WOL listing all the way back to 1932 in The Evening Star paper in Washington, and likely father back, so this should be addressed, either as if another station had this callsign, or however the true answer is.
