Page name[edit]

Why is this page named WTBS (TV) instead of WTBS or WTBS-TV? WTBS would be the simplest unless there is a WTBS radio or it is an acronym. Bogsat 15:33, 25 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also, why are two different articles about TBS/WTBS out there. At least someone had the good sense to combine the Superstation WGN article into the WGN-TV one. The same thing should happen here, other than some weekday and Saturday morning shows, the Channel 17 signal in Atlanta and the national feed of TBS air the same identical programming.--ShawnHill 20:57, 27 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WTBS is the terrestrial broadcast; TBS is the cable outlet. Technically, they are not the same entity. - Chadbryant 20:00, 8 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Did WTBS (WTCG) truly have secondary ABC/NBC/CBS affiliation? Mhking 23:16, 1 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move[edit]

WTBS (TV)WTBS – {To match the official call sign at fcc.gov} WP:RM page

  • Support, to match the call sign at fcc.gov and since no disambiguation is need. -Bogsat 20:38, 8 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose; Radiojon says that the reason the article is titled with (TV) instead of -TV is to show that the -TV suffix is not licensed by FCC. Georgia guy 21:02, 8 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support, no disambiguation is needed. - Chadbryant 21:17, 8 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support, there is no disambiguation at present; plus the calls are simply WTBS. (Is there a WTBS-AM or FM?) Mhking 22:51, 8 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support, as long as the edit histories of both pages can be preserved in the merge. Since this page was created on December 21, 2005 by overwriting a redirect, and the only edit on WTBS after that was to change the redirect from WTBS-TV to WTBS (TV), I think this may actually be feasible. The page WTBS has edits, so I think this move will be a cut and paste move or done by an admin -Bogsat 20:38, 8 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just to clarify to anyone who isn't aware, please do not cut and paste! An admin will take care of it, if a consensus is reached. Thanks! --Lox (t,c) 20:45, 9 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

New talk page comments[edit]

not sure where to put tis info on the page since no progam guide is on the page. In Fall 2008, Peachtree TV’s line-up will feature two shows that are currently attracting large audiences in the Atlanta market. The long-running and extremely popular talk show Montel, hosted by Montel Williams, will join the daytime line-up as a Peachtree TV exclusive in Atlanta. Also next year, Tyler Perry’s House of Payne, which premiered this past summer on TBS and set an ad-supported cable record for the #1 sitcom telecast of all time, will premiere in local syndication in Atlanta on Peachtree TV. In 2009, The Office and My Name is Earl will join the line-up as Atlanta syndication premieres.Inferno17 (talk) 19:08, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Name change from WJRJ to WTCG[edit]

So I've been researching an article I'm writing, and from everything I can find, the name change to WTCG didn't happen until August 1970, even though this Wiki entry has it as January. Newspapers.com and Genealogy Bank's Georgia newspapers, including the Atlanta Constitution and Marietta Journal, don't mention "WTCG" in listings until August, and there's no fanfare for the name change regardless. (I haven't found any hits for "Watch This Channel Grow" or "Turner Communications Group" until after August, either.) Does anyone have a source for January being the right date, since there's no footnote for that part, or is this something that should be changed to either "August 1970" or just "1970" for the time being? --Bix (talk) 18:45, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
