Programming[edit]

WSWG and WCTV are not complete simulcasts. For example, WCTV has Family Feud (WSWG does not) and WSWG has Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (vice versa). WSWG 43.1 also has an abundance of court shows on weekday afternoons; some of which don't appear on either WCTV 46.1 or 46.2. Both do simulcast WCTV news and air the same CBS network schedule. Missing from history: Link with WCJB[edit]

I don't have the actual dates and info to formally update this page, but I know for a fact that in the late 80's/early 90's, when WVGA was having severe financial problems, they operated for a time as a passive satellite/repeater of WCJB (channel 20) in Gainesville, Florida. I see no mention of this relationship in the station history. I haven't the time right now to research the details to update -- anyone who wants to do so, feel free. Related to the above, I believe the unreferenced statement about WVGA going off the air in January 1992 is in error. I found references in Broadcasting's reporting of FCC actions showing the application for sale to Tallahassee Channel 27, submitted April 8, 1992 and approved September 4, 1992 and there was no reference to the station being dark (which is always reported in these transactions if that is the case). There is also a reference to Hutchens applying for a change in facilities for WVGP on August 15, 1995 ... again, this would suggest the possibility that the station had been on the air all along. I am not sufficiently versed in edit codes to mark something as disputed; can someone do that and/or show me how? Kymber1956 (talk) 22:53, 20 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

A note from the main editor[edit]

I wanted to note something unique about this article's clippings. They no longer exist in newspapers.com.

This is apparently because Newspapers.com kind of mishandled this paper. I was told they started making it public before a contract was signed before coming to a halt after scanning into the late 80s/early 90s. The clippings originally were still accessible but not the paper pages. They then briefly made the rest of the paper available, but now it is gone—along with the associated clippings.

As of the writing of this note, the Valdosta Daily Times is only available up to 1928. Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 17:57, 9 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
