This list is complete (I believe) as far back as 1986, which is the first year the championships appear on ITF. Further back, I could only find the players in the final. I chose some 1980's years at http://www.wtatour.com/page/TournamentArchive/0,,12781~0~2009,00.html and found many draws with a systematic url. 1972, 1975, 1976 don't have content at the systematic url below. 1978 has another tournament.

The "Win-Loss" column probably means tournament wins, not match wins. Unlike in ATP World Tour Finals appearances, where the first Andre Agassi has 13 appearances but win-loss is 22-20. Here the first is Martina Navratilova, 21 appearances and 8-13 win-loss. 82.141.64.59 (talk) 07:13, 27 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

And, actually, the both numbers are not needed. If a player played 10 tournaments, won 1, then it is obvious she did not won the other 9. So "1" is enough there. Yes, good points above. The "win-loss" stat in this list is "first-place finishes vs. all other finishes", or "tournament w-l records" for the tournament in question. Not a common stat. Win-loss records for final matches (Super Bowls, etc.) are more common, even if they too are somewhat misleading. But the problem with the w-l records listed here is, at first glance, they appear to be tournament match records. Keber and Halep's w-l of 0-4 looks as though they each lost in the first round of each tournament they competed in, when that is not true at all. But then there are several players (e.g. Patty Schneider) who's match record is actually the same as the w-l record listed here. This is all the more jarring and confusing when considering the men's version of this page ATP World Tour Finals appearances. This page's format should be changed to match the men's version. In the mean time the win-loss column here should be removed. It's an awkward, rarely used, and poor way to track success in tournaments; it is easily confused with better and more common ways to do it; and it is redundant, as the information it's attempting to provide is obvious from the chart in the first place. --68.187.249.27 (talk) 17:39, 21 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Half of the players are missing from the 1996 tournament. That was 16 player tournament, but there are only 8 in the list. Of those, at least Karina Habsudova is missing. 82.141.64.59 (talk) 18:39, 27 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have added Habsudova's appearance to the list, and added 1996 to the other seven who participated but were missed. I'm also going to sort the list a little better. I think the idea originally was to sort by: # appearances, "win-loss" (# tournament wins), date (of last appearance?), in that order.
