The notice at the top of the article, stating "This article does not cite any references or sources." although true, is spurious. This article is a living article, constantly being updated by people who are either directly involved or were directly involved with the operation and management of the radio station. I believe that it should be removed, however, being a programmer and not a user, I do not know the protocol to follow to have the offending notice removed.Gggustafson (talk) 13:40, 6 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have corrected the early history of the station. It was incorrect in that it suggested that WVCR began in 1960 rather than 1959. I also removed some flame from the article. FYI, I was one of the founders. Gggustafson (talk) 16:30, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think this article is a little biased.... I don't particularly recall the old format being hugely popular. The station was basically the same as FLY 92. I do know that I love 88.3's current format. I can almost always turn it on and find a song I know; it's unlike anything else in the capital district. Juppiter 05:49, 14 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I added some tags where we need support for some of the assertions. There should be media coverage of the format change, for example, which could support that protests took place (without taking a position on their validity).Lisamh 15:29, 15 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I scrapped those uncited assertions, which were added by anon SPA 24.195.14.193 almost 8 months ago. If somebody finds support for them, they can always be reinserted. Neutralized the rest of it. Incorrect claims regarding J-Pop Exchange show...[edit]

The claims being made about J-Pop Exchange being the first radio show in either the Capital District or the country cannot be substantiated. First, XM Satellite Radio had a J-Pop show airing for about three years which could be heard across the United States on the U-POP station. There have been numerous J-Pop shows on the West Coast, and it should be very easy to find a number of shows on college radio stations scattered across the country with shows featuring J-Pop. I personally remember a show running a long time on one of the college stations around Baltimore, MD (they used to make live appearances at the Otakon conventions regularly).

While not specifically the "Capital District", Skidmore College's radio station in Saratoga Springs has had multiple shows focusing on J-Pop music, including one current show that's been on regularly for more than 10 years. Union College's station in Schenectady had at least one J-Pop show on for about six months, and a few years back Albany University had a long-running J-Pop show.

Since I'm fairly new to Wikipedia, I'd rather not edit the page itself and mess anything up... so I'll leave it for now to whoever is regularly updating this page. Thanks! ---- Stevie91 (talk) 00:16, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I went ahead and made the edit to remove the claims about J-Pop Exchange being the first radio featuring J-Pop music in either the Capital District or the country, and made it more general regarding the start of the show's broadcast. I also removed the edit which included information about a show on WSPN... information about another station's programming is inappropriate to appear on this entry (should be on WSPN's page if anywhere), and any claim that Radio 1/2 was the first show in the Capital District to feature J-Pop cannot be substantiated. It would be very hard to verify what shows had aired on college radio in the Capital District due to the transitory nature of college radio programming (schedule changes semester to semester). ---- Stevie91 (talk) 16:43, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

WVCR is the first? o.O;[edit]

WSPN, 91.1 FM, Saratoga Springs, New York, Radio Skidmore College...

"Radio 1/2 Show" with Mamono Hunter Stevie.

He's been hosting a FULL Jpop radio show since the mid 90s and I have recorded ALL of his show since then. In fact, he just celebrated the show's 12 year anniversary last weekend. So simply, WVCR can't be "the first".

Just wanted to point that out. :)
