WXMP isn't WIXO[edit]
WXMP isn't WIXO; WIXO took over the WXMP frequency, and WXMP's calls went to 101.1. Removing redirect. --Closeapple 03:31, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
Actually, WIXO took the frequency occupied by WWCT with WWCT taking the frequency occupied by WIXO. The 101.1 frequency had nothing to do with the WIXO move. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.136.109.83 (talk) 08:37, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
- That sounds like it's off. WWCT was already on 96.5 (swapped with WXMP three years before) when WIXO moved from 99.9 to 105.7; it was WXMP that was getting bumped (to 101.1), not WWCT. WWCT was on 105.7 from 1984-03-29 ("Rock 106" then "Rock 105.7"). WIXO was on 99.9 from 1996-08-02 ("99X"). WXMP was on 96.5 Farmington (only briefly) from 2003-09-09. It then goes something like this:
- 2003-09-24: WWCT swaps with WXMP — WWCT to 96.5 ("Rock 96.5"); WXMP to 105.7 ("Mix 105.7")
- 2006-09-19: WRXP callsign appears on 99.9 ("99.9 Pirate Radio"), leaving WIXO callsigns nowhere temporarily; "105.7 The X" already moved, but legally still WXMP for another week
- 2006-09-26: WXMP to 101.1 ("Mix 101.1"), deleting WVEL-FM; WIXO callsign assigned to 105.7 ("105.7 The X")
- 2006-09-29: WWCT callsign to 99.9, killing short-lived WRXP callsign; WRIA appears on 96.5 ("96.5 and 98.5 Kiss FM")
- Or, to simplify:
- 2003 (single swap): 105.7 WWCT <--> WXMP 96.5
- 2006 (bumps over 10 days): new WRIA--> 96.5 --WWCT--> 99.9 --WIXO--> 105.7 --WXMP-> 101.1 -> WVEL-FM abandoned
- If you think that's confusing, don't even think about ownership changes: 96.5, 98.5, 99.9, 101.1, 102.3, 104.9, and 105.7 were all sold from someone to someone else in that September 2006 switcheroo. That's why a bunch of callsigns and formats got moved; it was owners moving their stations from a frequency they sold to a frequency they bought, and a new owner in town creating new formats for its stations. --Closeapple (talk) 08:57, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

The referenced FCC form, when scanned or manually input, misspelled Walters' first name. The correct spelling is BAYARD. He is well known in the radio industry, as Bud Walters.Kathon (talk) 19:11, 18 November 2013 (UTC)
