Possible other genres: Oriental Metal, Rock Against Communism and Enka[edit]

Could their music be considered Rock Against Communism, Enka or Oriental Metal? Since it's a type of metal based on traditional Japanese instruments, it could be considered Oriental Metal, which is the type of Folk Metal rooted in oriental tradition (not always middle eastern but also Japanese or Chinese). RAC is not only based on criticizing communism, but is also defined as "traditionalist rock", and WagakkiBand often sings about Japanese traditions and the values of ancient Japan. 87.3.50.197 (talk) 18:47, 18 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I think you may have a good case for Enka, if any reliable sources have described the band as being in that genre. On the other hand, Oriental Metal was originally a term for bands from the Middle East, and the term is not meant to be applied to any band that is simply from somewhere in Asia. Also, that term does not have a lot of support in the music media, so Wikipedia editors have decided to categorize it within Folk Metal (see Folk metal#Oriental metal), and Wagakki Band is already described as Folk Metal here. And finally, you are nowhere close when it comes to Rock Against Communism, regardless of some of Wagakki Band's lyrics -- read that article and you will see that they are nowhere close to that genre. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (Talk|Contribs) 01:14, 19 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

RAC is often compared to Nazi Punk and White Power Music, which Wagakki are obviously not. In Italy, RAC music is called "Musica Alternativa di Destra", a term which means just "traditionalist alternative music" and has no "Nazi Punk" or "White Power" connotations, so I thought a band that has the theme of traditional Japan could be considered RAC by extension.
