Miller's Cove Baptist Church[edit]

In the history section, it says that Miller's Cove baptist Church is the oldest congregation in Blount County. But New Providence in Maryville was established inside Fort Craig before 1796 and has never ceased to exist as a congregation. Inez Burns' History of Blount County (pp. 118-9) is the source for that. I'm not sure what she means by "oldest congregation." Do you have a source for New Providence? Bms4880 (talk) 20:03, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What Inez means in "Oldest Conrgegation" is oldest baptist congregation. That quote was taken from the Baptist part of the book, Each denomination got a section in the book.

Fort[edit]

Josias Gamble did not start a fort in Walland in 1790, He began a fort on the little river in 1792 just below davis ford and the ellejoy creek. I grew up at the location of the fort. I have contacted the state of Tennessee about the marker that they placed at walland and have sent them the deed showing where the fort was. I've checked two sources, one of which places the fort on or very near the Great Indian Warpath (which was on the other side of Chilhowee Mtn.) and another placing a "Ft. Gamble" on Ellejoy. So it appears the historical commission did indeed miss it by about 10-15 miles. The deletion is appropriate. Bms4880 (talk) 13:34, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
