Pertinent Information About Wally Lamb[edit]

The following information was recently added to the Wally Lamb page but removed:

Having written three novels and edited two compilations, Lamb has been candid about his reticence to sign a deal for multiple books with his publisher having said: "I want to take it one at a time because I don't know how many stories I have in me. Each one has been more difficult to write than the one before it and I don't want to promise that I am going to create four more books and then decide that I only want to write two more."Loaded Questions Interview with author Wally Lamb.

I would like to argue that this information is pertinent to Wally Lamb's career and would be of interest to his readers. Lamb has often been criticized for the length of time which it takes him to write is books and this quote provides some insight into this matter. The quote is substantiated by a link to an interview conducted in December of 2008.

It should be noted the site, Loaded Questions, which has been linked to is a site in which I participate and conduct interviews. It should also be noted that Loaded Questions does not sell any products and and stands to make no monetary gain by ensuring that Wikipedia has the most current information about Wally Lamb, his career and his novels. The information which has been added to this page is not of a controversial nature and it is my belief that, despite the fact that I conducted the interview, it is information which must be included on the Lamb's page. Recent Update and Edit[edit]

I have updated, corrected, and fleshed out Wally Lamb's Wikipedia page. The original article was very short and contained inaccuracies (i.e. that Wally Lamb is currently a professor at the University of Connecticut). I maintained the portions of the original that were accurate, corrected inaccuracies, and added biographical information about the author (all of which is public domain, readily available through various sources, and/or supported by research listed in the "references" section within this article). In full disclosure, I do work in Wally Lamb's office; however, there is nothing in this article that is unsubstantiated and there is nothing of a promotional nature. The information provided here is intended to be helpful for those seeking to research the author. If I have violated any codes, I did so unintentionally and will gladly correct any mistakes. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Amandatindersmith (talkcontribs) 00:33, 22 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Added Inline citations[edit]

Hello again. I've just done my best to add inline citations throughout Wally Lamb's page. I believe this should address the previous concerns and would be very grateful if the warnings could be removed. If there is addition work to be done to improve the page, I am happy to do that as well. My goal is a neutral, accurate, and up-to-date page. Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Amandatindersmith (talkcontribs) 00:35, 26 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Note that the above editor self-identifies as adding the information at the request of the subject of the article. The Mark of the Beast (talk) 21:36, 30 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of tags[edit]

This experience has been educational, and I am grateful for it. After reading up on the standards for biographical articles, adding inline citations throughout the article, requesting editorial review (by The Mark of the Beast and Calliopenjen1), and receiving advice from TransporterMan, I removed two tags regarding references. I have left the tag regarding neutrality because--as I have openly and readily acknowledged--I am an assistant in the author's office and was asked by the author to correct inaccuracies (which, according to Wikipedia: Biographies of Living Persons standards can be done by the subject him/herself: "The Arbitration Committee has ruled in favor of showing leniency to BLP subjects who try to fix what they see as errors or unfair material."). I have also added a wealth of accurate and current information about the author using several print and online sources, all of which are now referenced both inline and within the reference section. I have put in a great deal of hard work to provide an accurate, neutral, well-supported article, and I believe that I have created an article in accordance to Wikipedia's standards for Biographies of Living Persons in that it is "written responsibly, cautiously, and in a dispassionate tone, avoiding both understatement and overstatement." Therefore, I request that this page be reviewed and that the neutrality tag be reconsidered and removed. Thank you! Amandatindersmith (talk) 00:32, 31 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Amandatindersmith, I've changed the "Braided" reference so that it refers to the first entry and doesn't repeat three more times. It would be nice if all the repeated references could be edited in this fashion. Best, Markvs88 (talk) 00:42, 31 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the heads up, Markvs88! Amandatindersmith (talk) 02:30, 31 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Colliopejen1!!![edit]

Colliopejen1, I cannot thank you enough for your help with this article. I was just trying to figure out how to combine the references. In my very limited experience here, I've found that many are quick to criticize but few are willing to put in the effort to help improve articles and educate newbies like me. You've done both willingly and kindly, and I am appreciative.

I do see the issues with citations in the Teaching section and will locate these sources as soon as possible. However, I do think the one regarding the Long River Review is correct. Please let me know if there is anything more I can do. Amandatindersmith (talk) 02:29, 31 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
