Death[edit]

The article states that Jesinghaus "was killed in action during World War I" and cites Sports-Reference.com as the source. That source states that "Jesinghaus studied philology and was killed-in-action during World War I in 1918, while serving with the 10th Company, 267 No. Infantry Reserve."

According to the German casualty lists, the Walter Jesinghaus who was killed in action with Reserve-Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 267 was a different Walter, born on 19. November 1892 in Barmen. Dr.phil. Walter Jesinghaus, born on 10 October 1887 in Düsseldorf, was a Leutnant der Reserve in various Flak units and survived World War I. He was a Lieutenant Colonel in the Luftwaffe in World War II. He was still alive as of the publication of the 1968 Hamburg telephone book.
