Wang Xiuchu (zh: 王秀楚) was the author of an 8000-word book, which gave a detailed eyewitness account of the mass murdering of Yangzhou civilians by the invading Manchu soldiers led by Manchu general Dodo. The name of the book is Yangzhou shi ri ji (The Record of Ten Days in Yangzhou).

The book is of high historical significance. It was destroyed by the Manchu and subsequently banned during Qing dynasty for nearly 250 years, until a student discovered it in a Tokyo university library, on the eve of the Xinhai revolution; it was then secretly brought back into China.

In 1897, a Chinese Han revolutionary started to print this book in secret, and distributed it as a piece of revolutionary literature calling for the overthrow of the Manchu regime.

During the second Sino-Japan war, many copies of this book were also being printed and distributed, to remind all the Chinese that they were on the verge of being ruled by the Japanese empire.

I tried to put it in a "cite web" template: But this time the whole web page is in Chinese, so I can't!
