History[edit]

West Liberty has been a farm market hub since its inception. The Illinois Central Railroad made 2 stops a day in West Liberty. The West Liberty Grade School (grades 1 -8) supplied the primary school education in the Jasper County School System. The school had 3 classrooms: grades 1-2, grades 3-5 and grades 6-8. A complete kitchen & lunchroom were located in the basement as was a classroom for the semi-weekly music program. A coal fired furnace was also located in the basement. The school building is now a private residence. 66.148.36.108 (talk) 16:18, 23 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
