1800s scandal and Associated Press deal

In his 2010 book The Master Switch: The Rise and Fall of Information Empires, Tim Wu apparently alleges that in the Reconstruction Era, Western Union took telegrams discussing Democratic Party internal strategy, and turned them over to the Republican Party. He also mentioned it had a deal with the Associated Press, which made it the only national real-time news service, and that the AP was affiliated with the Republican Party. (I heard him discussing this on the radio.) This would be interesting to corroborate and add to the article. -- Beland (talk) 23:40, 19 January 2015 (UTC)

Allegations?

"There were allegations by that Western Union provided..." Who is making the allegations? Seems like something is missing here. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.89.40.6 (talk) 05:18, 20 June 2015 (UTC)

Criticism

This is really missing on the main article IMHO. WU has been known to lose money on random occasions and of course their ToS covers for it.--89.212.75.6 20:46, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Does anyone have some verifiable information on Western Union's role in helping illegal immigrants send their earnings abroad? Bostoner (talk) 22:31, 18 December 2013 (UTC)

Western Union is a really hard means of sending money. It was a big hassle, 3x of going to Western Union branch and still I have not gotten the money because of nonsense procedure. I gave my Id, transaction number, where the money came from, how much and still they are still holding the money until now. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Renildamunoz (talkcontribs) 03:32, 27 June 2015 (UTC)
