Cleanup?[edit]

I took the trouble to significantly expand this article, and I thought I was improving it as well. However, it now has a cleanup tag. I come to the talk page to find out more, and there is no more. So help me out here. What needs to be cleaned up? --Wisekwai 05:38, 26 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Soundtrack[edit]

i think the soundtrack needs its own entry.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Lostdotard (talkcontribs) 21:11, 20 March 2007

I think it's fine the way it is, especially since the soundtrack is no longer available, except from second-hand vinyl shops and collectors. — WiseKwai 03:49, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Wherethebuffaloroam.png[edit]

Image:Wherethebuffaloroam.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Las Vegas[edit]

Is it just me, or does this film completely skip over Thompson and Acosta's time in Las Vegas, i.e. the fear and the loathing? VolatileChemical 09:47, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This isn't a film adpatation of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas it's based on a broader range of stuff including Fear and Loathing —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.148.46.25 (talk) 18:26, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thompson's career isn't defined to Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. He did write other books and this movie deals with his book Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail '72.

-- Credibility --

I'm curious about the credibility of this movie.I highly doubt that some parts happened, such as spraying the presidents face with a fire exstinguisher, but other parts seem plausible. Does anyone have any info on this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.26.162.185 (talk) 18:07, 24 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As with all of Hunter's writing, its tough to tell where reality ends and hallucinations/embellishment begins. In regards to Where the Buffalo Roam and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, more or less all of it was loosely based or inspired by actual events in his life--some of it not even from the time period in question, but incorporated because he was expounding on a subject and was reminded of a time that was relevant. In the case of the fire extinguisher, he was actually known to have discharged a fire extinguisher on numerous occasions, sometimes indoors, sometimes outdoors, sometimes at someone, sometimes just generally, but none on a plane that I am aware of and never at Nixon. He was known for doing this repeatedly, to some people. If you search for him on YouTube with 'fire extinguisher', there should be several videos of the real Hunter Thompson making a mess with one.
