Suggesting New name[edit]

The name white is a discrimination of the people by the color. the platform like Wikipedia should not entertain such discrimination. I feel European Haitians is a better name Jadan.r.jaleel (talk) 13:08, 15 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No ethnic galleries[edit]

@Kelisi: The version without the pictures has been stable for months. So, the WP:ONUS to demonstrate the relevance is yours. WP:NOETHNICGALLERIES means that selecting some people from the many notable people having their own articles is OR and leads to edit wars. @Iñaki Salazar: since there is no "White race" in a biological sense of the word (if you have doubts, look at the sources at e.g. Caucasian race), discussing someone's looks or someone's parents has absolutely no meaning. The only way to define race is by self-identification (and, of course, that has to be reported in reliable sources). Rsk6400 (talk) 06:36, 1 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Don't talk rot, please. The version with the pictures was stable for many more months – years, in fact – before you interfered with it. So, the WP:ONUS to demonstrate the irrelevance is yours. I can see from your lecture about race that you have some kind of axe to grind. Grind it elsewhere. This is an article about White Haitians, whatever anybody considers "White" to mean. Kelisi (talk) 06:53, 1 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Iñaki Salazar: I would ask first what she considers herself, but I'll let the edit stand for now. And Rsk, one picture definitely does not a gallery make. Kelisi (talk) 06:53, 1 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

From WP:STATUSQUO: During a dispute discussion, until a consensus is established, you should not revert away from the status quo ante bellum. From WP:NOCON: a lack of consensus commonly results in retaining the version of the article as it was prior to the proposal or bold edit. "Ante bellum" (Latin for "before the war") clearly means "before a dispute arose", so we have to revert to the version which has been stable now for months. Let me add that we have no source that considers Large the most prominent White Haitian, and not even one that explicitly calls him "white" (at least I couldn't find one when looking through his article). The focus of NOETHNICGALLERIES is not on galleries, but on original research. Rsk6400 (talk) 09:48, 1 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Well, for one thing, you don't read very well. Large's article begins by calling him a "Euro-Haitian-American poet"; "Euro–" means White, Rsk. For another thing, now that the "gallery" is down to one picture, it is hardly a gallery, and so you have revealed your purpose here as being something other than enforcing WP policy. I gather that it is the axe that you grind. I don't know what this thing is that you have about skin colour, or perhaps White Haitians in particular, but it is most distasteful to try to suppress knowledge of certain people because of that one trait. For yet another thing, the article's stability has been illusory. Just because it took several months for another user to find out about your interference and set it right, that does not mean that the article was stable. Those two pictures had been in the article for years before you cavalierly removed them without any discussion with other users, and you did so on the flimsiest of justifications — as if two photos constitute a gallery. Honestly. Iñaki Salazar may have a point in saying that Stéphanie Villedrouin is not a White Haitian, but all that I would suggest beyond what I said above is that we find a likelier candidate to fill that blank. By the way, there is also a little reference in WP policy about how nobody owns an article. You don't own this one, even if you are a major contributor. Kelisi (talk) 16:51, 1 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Please respect talk page guidelines, see WP:TALK, especially "concise", WP:NPA, and WP:AGF. I already told you more than once that the problem is that selecting one person from many is a kind of OR. Rsk6400 (talk) 05:01, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
