Doo-wop[edit]

The teenagers were not a doo-wop group:

  1. Their style is not what was later dubbed doo-wop. "Earth Angel" would be a better contemporary example
  2. "Doo-wop" is an anachronism. The term was coined about 20 years later to describe oldies of the era. To use the term in an encyclopedia article about a '50s group is inappropriate.

The reference to doo-wop has since been expunged from the article. However, it is worth noting that, correctly or incorrectly, the doo-wop article cites this song as an example. Also, no less an authority than Cub Koda refers to Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers as a "doo-wop group" in his article on allmusic.com. [1] Musical genres are notoriously hard to pin down (I can't even stand to look at the glam metal article anymore), but at least one verifiable source has categorized this song as doo-wop. technical terminology[edit]

" based on a 1-6-2-5 chord pattern" - What does this mean? Could this either be explained or a link given to an explanation.
